iRemit . . . Beyond Remittances
iRemit is engaged in servicing the remittance needs of millions of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) worldwide. OFW remittances will continue to significantly boost the Philippine economy and are expected to further surge in the following years. iRemit's strategies aim to capture a significant chunk of the huge annual inward remittance of OFWs worldwide. iRemit is known for having revolutionized the remittance industry by employing the latest in IT technology and utilizing the Internet platform making it possible to cut down the usual remittance period to only a few minutes. The nationwide coverage of iRemit's door-to-door remittance mode reaches more beneficiaries than other remittance companies with a delivery area spanning 17 regions, 79 provinces and 136 cities and municipalities in the country.
The iNotify (remittance pick up) is an alternative service method where beneficiaries in the Philippines can claim remittances from any of iRemit's more than 3,000 designated pay-out centers nationwide within 24 hours after receipt of the remittance from the its foreign offices. iRemit also opened new remittance corridors by introducing iNotify Foreign, a method of remittance from one country to another. Both Filipinos and non-Filipinos abroad can remit money from their country of origin to selected countries where the designated beneficiaries can pick-up the proceeds from an iRemit office.
In addition, the Company revolutionized the use of the debit card in the remittance industry. The iRemit Visa Debit Card is a personalized debit and ATM card-in-one. It is the fastest service mode that features real-time crediting of remittances from abroad. It enables both senders and beneficiaries to easily withdraw cash from more than 8,000 BancNet, Megalink and Expressnet ATMs in the Philippines. It also provides access to Visa ATMs worldwide and can handle mobile and internet banking transactions. As a debit card, it is also accepted in more than 24 million Visa-affiliated merchant establishments worldwide. iRemit also furher diversified its offerings to include socially-relevant services such as collecting premium and contribution payments of OFWs to the country's programs such as Pag-IBIG, the SSS, and PhilHealth thru its iPay service mode. iPay also accepts payments from real estate companies, and other pre-needs and insurance companies.
Soon, iRemit will offer bills payment facilities wherein customers can pay their utility bills from the Philippines in the iRemit foreign offices. iRemit's wide network coverage of OFW-host countries and several strategic partnerships and tie-ups with various local and international banks, pawnshops, couriers and mobile phone companies make iRemit the largest non-bank Filipino remittance company. It has grown very fast in a span of seven years and achieved market leadership in many of the countries that it operates in primarily because of its very competitive foreign exchange rates and very affordable service fees that have benefited customers. This strategy of being the low cost, yet reliablealternative provides a balancing factor in the very competitive remittance industry that is dominated by the big commercial banks.
