SSS Launches Electronic Overseas Collection Service

iRemit is proud to be the first collection partner in the UK to use the online system of SSS.  The electronic overseas collection service enables you to see your contributions posted in just 5 days.  To give you a better idea, below is an overview to this new system.

1.  What is Electronic Overseas Collection Service (EOCS)?
In an effort to increase collections from SSS members abroad and improve the system for recording and posting of their payments, SSS is making available to its OFW-members, the Electronic Overseas Collection Service as a mode of remitting collections and transmitting collection data to the SSS. This is an SSS online payment made available to iRemit customers through a system interface of iRemit and SSS.

2.  How fast is the posting of SSS payments thru the EOCS system?
Contributions and short-term loans are posted within the week for valid transaction entries. This is faster than the manual posting which takes 3 months.

3.  Should iRemit UK still forward the original SSS payment forms to SSS?
SSS online system (paperless system) eliminates the use of SSS payment forms (RS-5 for contributions, ML-1 for short-term loans or REL-9 for real estate loans) and SBRs (Special Bank Receipt). iRemit UK does not need to send these SSS payment forms and SBRs.

4.  If SSS payment forms and SBRs from iRemit UK are no longer submitted to SSS, how are SSS payment transactions recorded?
Once the SSS payment transaction is processed, the data is automatically recorded / documented in the EOCS system.

5.  Should the OFW-member fill-out the SSS payment forms?
The basis for payment details of the SSS member can be any of the following:
SSS payment form (RS-5 for contributions, ML-1 for short-term loans and REL-9 for real estate loans)
or iRemit Remittance Application Form (RAF).  These forms are merely basis for the payment details that will be encoded in iRemit’s system.

6.  Should iRemit UK issue a SBR to the SSS member? What receipt will be issued to the SSS member?
SBR will no longer be issued to the SSS member. iRemit UK shall issue the iRemit official receipt to SSS member as proof of his/her SSS payment.

7.  How can we assure the SSS member that iRemit official receipt is accepted by SSS as proof of payment?
iRemit Inc. and SSS has a Memorandum of Agreement for the Electronic Overseas Collection Service.
A unique ‘SSS Transaction Reference Number’ which validates the SSS payment will be printed on the iRemit official receipt. SSS Office accepts this receipt as valid proof of payment.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

A New Addition to the iRemit Family

It is our pleasure to inform everyone that we have a new Marketing Officer.  Mr. James Martinez joined iRemit UK last February.  He used to hold the position of Customer Support Officer for UK at the iRemit Head Office in the Philippines.  Should you wish us to support any marketing activity, please give us a call.

We have a new email address!

Effective March 1, 2008, please course all your inquiries, remittance instructions and correspondence to our new email address iremit.uk@myiremitfo.com.

Is your passport expiring?

If you have been issued a new passport and you have not sent us a copy, please do so by sending it through post or email.  We will be updating your ID records for customer due diligence purposes.  Please attach a cover letter stating that you are updating your ID records.

In case we have not received a copy of the new ID, we will not be able to process the remittance of clients until we have received a copy of such.  The acceptable IDs are passport and driver’s license.

Personal Bankers Can Save You On Service Fees

Transferring of funds particularly big amounts (GBP 701 and above) through a Personal Banker gives you the same speed in depositing money to our account but at a lower service fee for you. This is actually like having someone do online banking for you.  Imagine transferring up to GBP 2,000 for a bank to bank transaction and this will only cost you GBP 6 for the service fee!

Here’s how:
1.  You must have a Barclays Account.
2.  Go directly to the Personal Banker instead of the teller to transfer funds to our account.
3.  Ask the Personal Banker to transfer funds from your account to our account.
4.  Give our account details to the Personal Banker.
5.  Provide a reference name so we can easily identify your deposit.
6.  Secure a proof of transfer/receipt.

March Bank Holiday Schedule

We will be closed on March 21 (Friday) and 24 (Monday) for the bank holidays.  Our call center will also be closed on the 21st in observance of Good Friday however, it will be open to serve you on the 24th from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  Our office will be open on Easter Sunday, March 23.
